Community Engagement

I help to lead BU's Humanities and AI Lab, a student-centered working group focusing on ethical and social questions raised by AI. The lab aims to produce public-facing work on topics to which the humanities can add important insights.

I've also been involved with some awesome organizations that bring philosophy and other academic disciplines to learners outside traditional university settings. I recently gave talks for Boston's Binge Thinking lecture series and for Seattle's Youth Korean Action Network. I previously spent several years volunteering as an instructor with Toronto's University in the Community and as a judge with the Ontario High School Ethics Bowl.

Teaching

In my courses, I often give students the opportunity to design a "public philosophy project" in lieu of writing a traditional term paper. You can read about my experiences doing so at Daily Nous and Engaged Philosophy. I also recently oversaw a directed study on public philosophy with BU student Ronnie Gregor, who wrote several excellent philosophical newspaper columns for the BU Daily Free Press.
